Hotel Accomodation 

Our fishing hotel is located minutes from the River Dee in Banchory. The hotel has 22 spacious en-suite Bedrooms, which have been tastefully designed featuring all the modern amenities expected in a classic Country House hotel. Some of our rooms feature gorgeous views towards Scolty Hill and overlook stunning parkland. The river Dee runs just 3 minutes from the hotel.

Our hotel has several categories of rooms including our new Contemporary Junior Suites, Deluxe Double Rooms, as well as our traditional Classic Masters and Double/ Twin Rooms. We also have several Family rooms and Suites in traditional style.

The River Dee offers the visiting angler a real chance of catching spring salmon from opening day onwards. Many beats on opening day land fish into the double figures. The Dee is propably the best spring atlantic salmon river on the planet as it opens on the 1st Feb and has fresh fish entering all year round. Due to this there is high demand for good spring fishing as anglers flock from all over to chase that elusive salmon. We are proud to have access to some of the finest spring beats on the Dee and as such offer this package to our clients in 2012.

Prime time: Mid March - May for Spring Salmon although February is also very good

Average size of fish: 10lb although fish up to 20lb are caught regularly

Ghillie/Guide: Your ghillie will meet you at the beat every moring prior to your days fishing and will be on hand throughout the day to ensure you get the most out of your days fishing.

Tackle: In the spring we would recommend 13 - 14ft double handed rod with a line rating of 9/10. Shooting heads / Skajits are provong popular in the spring months and should cover all eventualities. A selection of 10 - 15ft fast sinking tips is vital in order to get down to the fish. We would recommend the Rio AFS shooting head kit or a Rio Skajit with Mow tips.

15 - 20lb flurocarbon is recommended as anything lighter may not be suffice.

Chest waders and a good wading staff are highly recommended as wading is generally the norm.

Clothing: Good thermal clothing with underlayers are a must for early season fishing as the water is still cold. good head wear is also a must.
