Greig Thomson - Director
Greig was introduced to fishing at a very young age, ever since it has not only been his passion in life but his obsession. Having represented his country on an international level on more than one occasion, Greig brings to Salmo International a wealth of experience not only in game fishing but in business also. Coming from a successful financial services background Greig decided in to apply his knowledge, effort and skills to the area where his true passion lies. His clear objective is to drive Salmo International into distinct market leader within the sector developing a young, vibrant & adventurous approach towards salmon and trout fishing both in Scotland and Internationally. Ronald Sutherland - Salmon Fishing/Fly Tying Consultant
There are not many anglers in the salmon fishing world who do not know this name! Hailing from the county of Sutherland in the North of Scotland, Ron runs and owns the Helmsdale Company on the banks of the prestigeous River Helmsdale. Having fished from a young age around the world for Salmon, Ron brings with his a vast wealth for Salmon fishing and fly tying knowledge. Ron is without a doubt one of the best fly tiers around and with this we are proud to have him on our team to advise & support our clients. Cohn O'Dea - Salmon Fishing Consultant
Cohn has been a dedicated salmon angler from an early age. Having spent most of his youth fly fishing on various rivers in Tayside, Cohn is now head ghillie on the famous Taymount Fishings on the River Tay. Cohn brings to Salmo International a wealth of international salmon fishing experience and product knowledge, only recently Cohn landed a fresh 40lb Salmon on the Grand Cascapedia River in Eastern Canada. Robbie MacGregor - Tackle Consultant
Robbie joins the Salmo International team as our principal tackle consultant. When he is not fishing Robbie owns and runs a successful tackle outfitter on the east coast of Scotland where he specialises in providing only the very best advice and products for clients who want to fish in both Scotland and abroad. When dealing with clients Robbie is on hand to offer sound advice on fishing and tackle as well as looking after their tackle requirements. Stan Headley - Instructor/Consultant
Stan is a vastly experienced fisherman who served his apprenticeship on some of the UK’s finest trout waters. Considered by many to be at the forefront of wild trout fishing, philosophy and technique, he has devoted his life to fly fishing. A self-confessed ‘monster trout’ fanatic, he takes great pride in his ability to bring the dreams and aspirations of client fly fishermen to a happy conclusion. In 2013 he helped a client take an eleven pound wild brown trout in the wild west of Scotland. Current manager of the Scottish International Fly Fishing team, one time winner of the Scottish National Fly Fishing match, and with five international caps, his understanding and mastery of trout fishing is undeniable. Gary Scott (AAPGAI) - Instructor/Consultant
Gary specialises in the use of the double and single-handed rods and through his involvement with other casters like Peter Anderson, Ian Gordon, Eoin Fairgreive, Bill Drury and Scott Mackenzie. His distance casting skills have developed to the point where he is now considered one of the best in the world. He won his first distance casting event at The Chatsworth Game Fair. Since that first win Gary has continued to rank highly in all the competitions he has entered.
Gary was part of the five man Scottish team who were crowned World Champions at the World Emerald Masters in Ireland in 2006 with over thirty countries competing. He is still recognised as Current World Champion. It has been Gary's willingness and enthusiasm to learn that has allowed him to develop his skills. David Mateer (SGAI) - Instructor/Consultant
David is a holder of the Scottish Game Angling Instructors Certificate (SGAIC) using a single handed rod. He is a retired police officer with over forty years fly fishing experience all over the UK. Over the last ten years he have been heavily involved in competitions and has fished at both police and full international level. He was fortunate enough to be a member of the Scottish Fly Fishing Team that won gold in the Spring International at Lough Conn, Ireland in May 2010. He is also the current holder of the record brown trout caught on fly at the Lake of Menteith. In addition to the above mentioned qualification David also holds an Emergency First Aid Certificate, Child Protection Clearance, Disclosure check and has all the necessary insurance. His aim is to teach individuals or groups whether they are beginners, intermediate or experienced fly fishers. In the case of beginners his aim is to teach them the roll cast, overhead cast and to catch their first trout on the fly. He looks forward to helping you. Brian McKinlay - Salmon Fishing Consultant
Brian McKinlay looks after the Salmo International operations in British Columbia near Vancouver. Brian has been the owner and operator of his own fishing business since 1996. His fishing adventures have featured on Shimano TV and the National Geographic Channel! Year round Brian specialises in fishing for Salmon, Sturgeon, Trout and Steelhead on the Fraser River and its tributaries in the greater Vancouver area. Additionally Brian specialises in world class fly-fishing for big Bull Trout on rivers and Rainbow trout fly fishing in remote wilderness lakes near Vancouver, BC. Glyn Satterley - Photographer/Consultant
Glyn Satterley is one of Scotland's foremost and most versatile photographers with many awards under to his name. His distinctive style is appreciated by a broad range of magazines, design agencies, property agents and corporate clients, and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery have several of his black and white prints in their collection.
